HOrizontal open channel (WTM)
History
1990 thru 2010, horizontal open channel UV wastewater systems were the most widely installed orientation. Lamp is placed within a quartz sleeve and sealed from the water with an o-ring hand seal
Systems are good for small to mid size flows. Our validated offering is the HE System with report by USEPA, ETV and NSF. Report is available for engineers by emailing adam@donnellanuv.com .
Operation
Not much has changed over the last 35 years. The lamps are protected by quartz sleeves and put directly into the effluent. Operators need to remove and clean the quartz on a periodic basis. This is done through hand scrubbing with a lime remover.
Benefits
Pre-fabricated stainless steel disinfection channels with transitions mount easily into most treatment plant configurations. Redundancy can be done In Series (IS), Parallel (PC) or in a "U-Turn" configuration.
Systems are available with remote electronics, monitoring and provide UV output in mWs or %. A sensor looks at a single UV lamp and provides feedback.
Sensors and the UV modules need to be cleaned as debris and other impurities often foul and cause alarms.
